Lentil Dahl Soup

July 18, 2012

This dish is soooo easy and so delish it is a staple in our house these days. 50% of our kids like it! Okay, that is only one kid, but that is still really good! This started as my sister-in-law’s friend’s recipe, but we have modified it qua bit: We usually eat it over steamed or raw baby greens.  Yum! Best. Birthday cake. Ever.

June 14, 2012

I’ll be honest with you, I was a little nervous when Evan told me he wanted to have a healthy birthday cake at his birthday party this year. I was very proud of him for making that choice, but yes, nervous. We have made kids cry before with our healthy desserts. Multiple kids cry. Luckily they were part of our immediate family so they got over it quickly. But now…

Super Food Pesto!

July 9, 2010

This pesto recipe was so good and made from healthy ingredients that it is forcing me out of my blog retirement. I usually get so much basil from my weekly farm share I don’t know what to do with it. No Guilt Ice Cream!

January 27, 2010

Take a look at the “ice cream” Anthony made last week. Okay, it’s not really ice cream, but it is sooo good! We used to eat a lot of Ben and Jerry’s in my house, but this stuff is sooo much better for you and won’t add on the extra pounds. It really satisfies my after dinner sweet craving and it is made of just fruit! To make the ice…

Homemade Sushi Dinner!

January 6, 2010

I got this great little sushi kit at the Basil Bandwagon last night. Anthony rolled up these fabulous rolls and Evan inhaled them!  This was a last minute thing and look how colorful it turned out!  We had beat & avocado roll, avocado & mango roll, beat & sweat potato roll and a sweet potato & avocado roll. Yum! Next time we will make it healthier and get the kit…

Stewed Greens

October 25, 2009

Sometimes I have such a backlog of greens from the farm I just put a whole bunch in a pot with a can of diced tomatoes, some corn for sweetness and a little Italian seasoning. It comes out so good! Even Ev commented on how good it smelled while I was cooking it tonight. Let’s see if he actually eats some for dinner tomorrow. This batch has kale, spinach and…
